Fostering Creativity

For the past year or so I’ve had this inexplicable anxiety related to my lack of creative output. My college experience taught me that I am happiest when I am doing something creative for my own benefit. Unfortunately my creative output wasn’t paying the bills and the 9-5 (man I wish it was actually just 9-5) got in the way. Lately almost all my energy has gone in to my job, which don’t get me wrong I love, but it still leaves something to be desired.

So here’s a list for my own benefit of things I need to start doing to feel more satisfied with life.

  • Carry a camera everywhere
  • Carry a notebook and actually use it
  • Surround myself with creative people
  • Wake up earlier
  • Learn something new everyday
  • Dress better
  • Make plans with friends
  • Talk to strangers
  • Write more
  • Stop reading blogs about being productive and actually do something productive
  • Keep my work and living spaces clean (it’s surprising how much more at ease you feel when you don’t have a kitchen full of dirty dishes)
  • Give random gifts

I’m sure there are more things I should be doing, but for now this is a start.
