– Eventually all subcultures get subverted and repurposed by the mainstream but that just means the people who really care will need to create something new.

It is done. Adieu, Quicksilver. | kung fu grippe →
I too will miss Quicksilver. I wasn’t ever using it to its full potential and was never the ninja that Merlin was with it, but still it will be missed.
For the past six months I’ve been testing Alfred (Launchbar just wasn’t doing it for me) as a replacement for Quicksilver, and just yesterday decided I liked it enough to upgrade to the Powerpack, and have to say it’s...

A Holiday Message From Ricky Gervais →
So next time someone tells me they believe in God, I’ll say “Oh which one? Zeus? Hades? Jupiter? Mars? Odin? Thor? Krishna? Vishnu? Ra?…” If they say “Just God. I only believe in the one God,” I’ll point out that they are nearly as atheistic as me. I don’t believe in 2,870 gods, and they don’t believe in 2,869.

I’d be angry if I was a tax payer in Phoenix*. I’d like to see them come back to Winnipeg, but not at the government’s expense, the Bombers stadium deal is bad enough.

If WikiLeaks is treating this as a war in cyberspace, America should do the same. The first step is to rally a coalition of the willing to defeat WikiLeaks by shutting down its servers and cutting off its finances. - Marc A. Thiessen of the Washington Post

Left-wing councillors lash out after Cherry speech... →
Don Cherry’s a fucking goof.
Watch the video for a different perspective than the article. In print he almost seems to have a point, whereas in the video he just rambles on like your old racist Grandpa who still thinks we’re at war with the Ruskies.

Now watch this. I guess Chris Hannah is one of those “pinko” “kooks” Cherry is talking about.
G20 report unflattering to Toronto Police Chief -... →
“Unflattering” is an understatement.
It seems to me like every day governments become less accountable. Despite this report I doubt that any significant actions will be taken. Bill Blair will continue to rule over Toronto and if anything individuals responsible for some of these abuses might get a slap on the wrist.

Why aren't we talking about Afghanistan? →
The public outrage that was present in 2007 seems to have largely disappeared. It’s almost as if, after nine years of combat, Canadians have become so acclimatized to being at war that staying in Afghanistan indefinitely no longer registers as anything unusual. Rather, it’s become our new normal
